 The question I had to pose to myself was “How can a man be the king of a jungle and have the heart and compassion like Mother Theresa?” Balance, life, love and knowledge of self. A strong belief in God and placing him first in life. That is how. In speaking to Mr. Pierson I was taken back by his beginnings as a child that brought him to the man he is today.

When I asked Richard why did he choose boxing, he gave me two answers. The first was he had lost a daughter at birth his second child; she was alive for two seconds. Can you imagine a child coming into the world and only living for seconds? I try to fathom the hurt and the pain that both parents endured. Just imagining welcoming a beautiful bundle of joy all smiles, and then death occurs. Losing a daughter due to neglect and improper malpractice of the doctor. Richard of course wanted justice and could not get it because there were no lawyers that wanted to take his case on. His daughter was clearly mishandled! So out of anger at the age of nineteen Richard needed and outlet and that led him to boxing. Boxing was introduced to him by his mom, but not yet would he take it seriously until this tragic event. Richard wanted to hurt somebody, spew his aggressions on a willing opponent. Richard couldn't fathom boxing at such a young age, of course his mother could. She wanted her son off the streets and Richard focusing on something better than death, crime, drug abuse and the many unattractive elements that is known in the projects.

Detroit saxophonist Mc Murray, who might be remembered in the '80s as one of the finest avant expressionists in his heyday with Griot Galaxy, follows the same Smooth Jazz path as on his previous Warner Brothers release "The David Mc Murray Show." His 1996er release was Keep on Rising. Dave Mc Murray is also well known as a sideman at several projects like Bob Dylan's Under the red sky (1990), the Rolling Stones' Voodoo Lounge (1994), Bob James' Joy Ride.

This guy can write, produce, play and boy can he blow! If you have not heard of Dave McMurray before or looking to get into Jazz, this album will introduce you perfectly!! This is a fine Jazz album and in my opinion his best yet, but he very smartly blends genres so if you're into Soul, R&B or House, YOU WILL find something on there. There are soooo many good tracks on this album, if you like quality music, buy this album, you won't be disappointed!!!

The best yet from Dave Mcmurray. After his previous 2 albums with a couple of stong tracks, this album is highly listenable all the way through. Check out Mack Ave, Detroit to Cali, and the cover of Roy Ayres 'Searching' and 'Killing me softly with his song'. Dave blows beter than ever.
